Hibiscus
(The history and folklore of hibiscus is rich, and spans across various cultures. This vibrant red flower is considered in Hinduism to be sacred to Kali, the goddess of time, destruction, death, and rebirth/transformation. The hibiscus flower also carries deep cultural significance in Hawaii, with the vivid red blooms symbolising love and passion, and it is said that wearing a hibiscus flower behind one ear may indicate a person's relationship status, based on modern symbolism. Hibiscus blossoms are unsurprisingly often used in love spells, but a lesser known correspondence is their use in divination. This may be linked to one of their traditional uses by sorcerers in Dobu in the Western Pacific, who practice divination by placing a few hibiscus flowers onto a wooden bowl of water, effectively functioning as a scrying method.)
